Dr. Ava Wu is an oral medicine specialist. She cares for patients experiencing the oral component of Sjӧgren's syndrome, in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own moisture-producing glands, causing a dry mouth among other possible symptoms.

In her research, Wu studies how Sjӧgren's syndrome develops and ways to treat the complications of dry mouth.

Wu earned her doctor of dental surgery degree at UCSF. She completed a residency at Keck Medicine of USC, a residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a residency at the National Institutes of Health.

Wu is a member of the Sjögren's Syndrome Foundation.
