Cardiac Surgery Program
The UCSF Cardiac Surgery Program offers a variety of advanced surgical treatments for heart conditions. Our mission is to provide patients with minimally invasive options, so they have the best possible outcomes and shorter recovery times, compared to traditional open-heart surgery.
Our areas of expertise include:
- Minimally invasive techniques for repairing and replacing heart valves, including mitral valve repair and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
- Coronary artery bypass grafting
- Heart transplantation
- Robot-assisted cardiac surgery
Using state-of-the-art technologies, our surgeons are able to make complex cardiac surgical procedures safer and more effective.
Being accessible to our patients is important to us. We offer telehealth visits to make it easier for patients who live outside the Bay Area to access our care.
U.S. News & World Report ranks UCSF as one of the top hospitals in the nation for cardiac surgery. Our cardiothoracic surgery team is also particularly proud that we consistently earn one of the highest patient satisfaction scores among specialty clinics at UCSF Health. Our patients are truly at the heart of everything we do.
