Lab Services at Lakeshore

(415) 353-2736

UCSF Lab Services at Lakeshore performs diagnostic tests for patients receiving care in our hospital and clinics as well as for our medical research community. Your doctor may order certain tests that can help them diagnose or manage your condition.

UCSF laboratories perform more than 10 million tests each year. Our state-licensed laboratories are certified under the federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments program and accredited by the College of American Pathologists. We are dedicated to providing safe and excellent services.

All UCSF blood draw locations – including Lab Services at Lakeshore – accept patients on a walk-in basis. If you need your blood drawn, please refer to this list of locations to find your most convenient option, including sites specifically for children or for patients with cancer. The list includes contact information and operating hours for each site.

The special test instructions page has information on where and when various tests are available.

Please be aware that Lab Services at Lakeshore offers a limited blood draw menu and cannot accommodate urgent requests. If you have a pressing lab need, please visit one of our other lab services locations, such as Parnassus, Mission Bay or Mount Zion.

For faster service, some labs offer self-scheduling through the MyChart website or app. Lab appointments can be scheduled or canceled only by the patient.

Notice for patients of Saint Francis and St. Mary's hospitals

This location cannot access electronic lab orders placed by providers at UCSF Health Saint Francis Hospital or UCSF Health St. Mary's Hospital. If you have an electronic order for a lab test from Saint Francis or St. Mary's, please use your usual blood draw location. We can, however, accept paper lab orders from Saint Francis and St. Mary's hospitals. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us provide the best possible care.
