Elan Guterman

MD

Neurologist
Fueled by curiosity, endorphins and the outdoors

Dr. Elan Guterman is a neurologist who cares for patients with a variety of neurological conditions. She sees those needing evaluation in the emergency department and those admitted to the hospital.

The goal of Guterman's research is to improve treatment and delivery of both emergency and hospital care for patients with neurological disorders. She is particularly interested in improving treatment for status epilepticus, a condition in which a seizure lasts longer than five minutes or in which seizures occur so close together that patients can't recover in between.

Guterman earned her medical degree at Weill Cornell Medicine. At UCSF, she completed a residency in neurology, followed by a fellowship in the neurohospitalist program, which focuses on care of critically ill patients with neurological conditions. She is committed to providing quality patient care, pursuing research to improve patient outcomes and mentoring neurology trainees.
