Dr. Melisa L. Wong is a thoracic oncologist who treats patients with lung cancer and other cancers of the chest region. She has a particular interest in caring for older adults with cancer. Her goal is to provide personalized care based on the values and goals of her patients.
Wong's research focuses on understanding and improving outcomes in older adults with cancer. Her research team studies how lung cancer treatment impacts patients' ability to function and their quality of life.
Wong completed her medical degree, a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in medical oncology at UCSF. She also completed advanced training as a fellow in aging research in UCSF's geriatrics division. She earned her master of advanced study degree in clinical research from the UCSF Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics.
Wong is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Cancer and Aging Research Group, Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, International Society of Geriatric Oncology, International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and American Geriatrics Society.
