Dr. Nicholas Butowski is a neuro-oncologist who specializes in brain tumors, neuroimaging, cognitive and rehabilitative neurology, and complementary therapies for neurological disorders. He is director of clinical services in neuro-oncology and a researcher at the Brain Tumor Center.

In his research, Butowski focuses on developing treatments for primary brain tumors as well as methods to ensure good quality of life for patients and to assist them in recovering from or coping with brain injury.

Butowski earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed a residency in neurology and a fellowship in neuro-oncology at UCSF. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and Society for Neuro-oncology.

    It's been a year since the Glioblastoma diagnosis. The road to recovery is beyond hard, with treatments dictated by MRI results, and considerations given for being heavily methalated. So very grateful to have Dr Butowski and the team looking out for me.

    I feel extremely fortunate that Dr. Butowski was available to see me and pick up with me after not seeing him since 2017. He's so very knowledgable and paid out a reasonable plan for me to follow. I need to do my part now.

    My care provider received quite general info about injections, and he did not reply due to my need to provide a list for which he would respond. This is due to the detail he would provide to me specifically. All treatments for my particular disease are extremely new

    Dr Butowski is excellent. I'm happy he is my NeuroOnc. I feel safe and cared for. He is smart and easy to speak with. He hears what I have to say and responds in a way that doesn't dismiss me. That Is a major issue with others and I appreciate that it's not with him.

    It was a good meeting with Dr. Butowski about my MRI results. He didn't show the results of my MRI scan this time like he usually does before but I trust him as he confirmed it's stable so I suppose it's not necessary to see them if they are the same as before.
