The UCSF Spine Center holds a monthly Spine Tumor Board to review challenging cases involving primary tumors of the spine and tumors that have spread to the spine from other parts of the body.
Spine Tumor Board
Referring specialists, including oncologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and radiation oncologists, are invited to attend and bring their complex patient cases for review. We conduct in-depth reviews by neuroradiology, followed by treatment discussions involving neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, radiation oncology, oncology and pathology specialists.
Meetings
The tumor board meets on the third Wednesday of the month at:
UCSF Ambulatory Care Center
400 Parnassus Ave., Eighth Floor
Neurology Conference Room
San Francisco, CA 94143-0332
Coffee and bagels are served.
Case Submissions
Please submit cases for review to the UCSF Spine Center.
If submitted one week prior to the Tumor Board meeting, cases can be reviewed in advance by neuroradiology. If advance submission is not possible, cases will be accepted for review on the day of the meeting.
For urgent situations that can't wait for review at the month tumor board, please submit cases for Spine Rapid Case Review for case review within 48 hours of submission.
Dr. Christopher Ames, neurosurgeon, is director of the tumor board.
