MD

Plastic and reconstructive surgeon
Foodie and outdoor enthusiast

Dr. Anna Zhou is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon with expertise in procedures to restore the form and function of body parts damaged by disease. She performs breast reconstruction following partial or total mastectomy using a variety of techniques, including microsurgery (transferring soft tissues from one part of the body to another). She also provides the full range of surgeries to prevent and treat lymphedema (abnormal buildup of lymphatic fluid in tissues).

Zhou's research focuses on ways to improve techniques in breast reconstruction and lymphedema surgery as well as outcomes for patients having these procedures. She has investigated such topics as restoring breast sensation, combining breast reconstruction techniques in ways that lead to better patient satisfaction, and optimizing lymphedema treatment algorithms.

Zhou earned her medical degree at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. She completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Stanford University, followed by a fellowship in microsurgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Whether a trip along the California coast, a month in Greece or a weekend snowboarding in Tahoe, Zhou loves to travel when she's not working. She loves meeting new people and exploring new cultures. During her medical training, she had the privilege of visiting Vietnam on a surgical mission trip, sharing breast reconstruction techniques with local trainees. She looks forward to more adventures both internationally and closer to home.
