Dr. Brian Block is a pulmonologist who cares for patients with all types of lung disease. He has a special interest in patients with lung conditions who are in intensive care.
Block conducts research on how patients and families prepare for making decisions in the intensive care unit. He is interested in improving support for those who face difficult medical decisions.
Block earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, serving as chief resident. He completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at UCSF.
Block is a member of the American College of Physicians, Society of Critical Care Medicine and American Thoracic Society.
Block lives in San Francisco with his wife and two young children. After growing up in the East Bay and spending 15 years away, he is happy to be back in the Bay Area.
