An expert in the treatment of breast cancer, Dr. Cheryl Ewing is a breast surgeon at the UCSF Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center in San Francisco and the UCSF Breast Cancer Center in Marin. Ewing helped develop two breast surgeries, the lumpectomy with partial breast reconstruction and the nipple-sparing mastectomy.
Ewing earned an undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and her medical degree at Wayne State University. She then completed a fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Chicago.
Before joining UCSF Medical Center in 2001, Ewing directed the University of Chicago's multidisciplinary breast cancer program and had a private practice at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Ewing has received numerous awards, including a Susan G. Komen local hero award and a professional development travel award for women in medicine.
