Dr. Claudio Díaz Ledezma is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in caring for patients with arthritis and patients who need hip, knee or other joint replacements.
In his research, Díaz is interested in how to improve outcomes for elderly patients who fracture a hip. He is also interested in understanding and better treating postsurgical infections of prosthetic joints as well as other orthopedic infections.
Díaz earned his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery and traumatology at Universidad del Desarrollo, followed by a fellowship in adult surgical reconstruction at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute's Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
As a leading orthopedics expert, Díaz has spoken all over the world on orthopedic innovations and techniques, giving more than 100 presentations in seven countries. He has also held editorial roles for medical journals, including serving on the editorial board of the Journal of Arthroplasty and as associate editor of Revista Chilena de Ortopedia y Traumatología.
When not working, Díaz likes to spend time outdoors, walking around San Francisco and going to parks with his wife and daughter. He also enjoys experiencing diverse local cuisines.
