Dr. Erin Amerson is a dermatologist who focuses on caring for adults with conditions that include moles and skin cancer, eczema, psoriasis, autoimmune skin diseases and skin infections. She is the chief of dermatology at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, where she teaches residents and medical students in both clinic and hospital settings.
Amerson's research focuses on studying and improving health services and skin care for vulnerable populations, both in the U.S. and abroad. She is a founding member of the International Alliance for Global Health Dermatology (GloDerm), an organization of dermatologists whose focus is improving skin health throughout the world.
A Wisconsin native, Amerson earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed a residency in dermatology at the University of Minnesota. She then completed a yearlong fellowship on HIV dermatology, working at both UCSF and Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Amerson lives in Oakland with her husband, two children and her labradoodle, Boomer.
