Guus Bol

MD PhD

Gastrointestinal oncologist
Biker and avid climber

Dr. Guus Bol is a medical oncologist who cares for patients with gastrointestinal cancers. He has a particular focus on treating colon and rectal cancers. He advocates for a holistic, collaborative approach to cancer care, strategically combining therapies from different subspecialties to create a synergistic effect—where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts—tailored to each patient's unique needs.

Bol's research focuses on developing new cancer treatments by taking advantage of what's known about how tumors behave on a molecular level, as well as by utilizing state-of-the-art local treatment technologies for metastatic disease.

Bol earned his medical degree and a doctorate in clinical translational oncology at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, where he also completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in medical oncology. While in medical school, he conducted research at Johns Hopkins Medicine as a postdoctoral fellow.

Bol is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the European Society for Medical Oncology, the Dutch Society of Medical Oncology, and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer.
