Dr. Jennifer van Warmerdam is an orthopedic surgeon who provides comprehensive, compassionate care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions. She works closely with each patient to personalize treatment plans that will meet their needs and goals. She seeks to educate her patients on their diagnosis, treatment options and expected outcomes; to support them throughout treatment and recovery; and to ensure their safety. Her approach includes encouraging patients to ask questions and actively participate in their own care. She finds it rewarding to see the positive impact joint replacement surgery can have on patients' mobility, comfort and overall well-being.
As a faculty member and program leader, van Warmerdam is active in educating doctors doing residencies in orthopedic surgery. She believes teaching future surgeons is a privilege that allows her to give back to her profession. Mentoring and guiding residents reinforces her commitment to excellence in patient care and keeps her up-to-date on the latest advances in the field.
Van Warmerdam earned her medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Physicians Regional Medical Center, followed by an orthopedic fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
This provider works with UCSF through the UCSF Health Community Medical Group, a multispecialty group connecting doctors and practices throughout the Bay Area.
