Dr. Jose G. Gurrola II is an otolaryngologist who specializes in rhinology, or conditions of the nose and sinuses, as well as frontal skull base surgery.
Gurrola's research interests include the causes and treatments of chronic sinusitis. He is also interested in approaches to and outcomes in skull base surgery.
Gurrola received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in otolaryngology at University of Iowa Health Care, followed by a fellowship in rhinology and skull base surgery at Georgia Regents University, now Augusta University.
Before coming to UCSF, Gurrola was an assistant professor of otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at the University of Virginia.
Gurrola is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, American Rhinologic Society and North American Skull Base Society. He also serves on committees for these associations.
