Dr. Karen Hauer is an internal medicine specialist who provides primary care.

Hauer studies medical education, and is an associate dean at UCSF. Her research focuses on innovative ways to train and assess medical students so that they become outstanding doctors.

Hauer earned her medical degree from UCSF, where she also completed a residency in internal medicine. She earned a doctorate in medical education from UCSF and Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

Hauer is married to a physician, and they have three children. A native of Marin County, she enjoys being outdoors, running, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

    I haven't had an in-person annual checkup appointment in years with Dr Hauer due to the pandemic and scheduling challenges on my side. I was impressed with how thorough Dr Hauer was at getting a full and complete picture of all the things going on in my life that can impact health. And how sensitive and thoughtful she was in discussing some of the next steps around what I need to do to further improve my health. I have always appreciated Dr Hauer's professionalism and knowledge, so I was not surprised with how this visit went - just want to say that I was really happy to have this thorough time for my checkup with her.
