Dr. Laura Hill-Sakurai is a family physician who has special interests in doctor-patient communication and menopause.
Hill-Sakurai's research focuses on menopause. In particular, she studies the varied understandings of menopause based on women's experiences, as well as patients' decisions about hormone replacement therapy, and complementary and alternative medical therapies during menopause.
As an educator in family and community medicine at UCSF, Hill-Sakurai focuses on culture in medicine, human sexuality and LGBTQI issues, and professionalism in the predoctoral curriculum.
After graduating from Carleton College, Hill-Sakurai earned her medical degree from the University of Iowa. She completed the Ramsey Family and Community Medicine residency.
