Dr. Lawrence Poree is a pain medicine physician with expertise in using the latest interventional techniques to control pain with less reliance on oral medications. He is particularly interested in managing pain and restoring function through neuromodulation, technology that delivers electrical stimulation or medication to targeted areas in the body.

Poree earned his master of public health degree at the University of California, Berkeley, where he also earned a doctoral degree in toxicology. He then completed postdoctorate studies in biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, where he completed a residency in anesthesiology. He completed a fellowship in pain management at UCSF.

Poree serves on the boards of the North American Neuromodulation Society, International Neuromodulation Society and California Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

    Dr. Poree is an amazing physician, he never rushes. I am extremely sensitive to drugs and he has been trying to find a combination for my pain pump that I can tolerate. He's not only thorough but he explains all the options so we can make a decision together.

    It would be very helpful to use visuals when describing causes of pain due to spinal nerve issues as difficult to follow with narrative alone.

    Care provider was very knowledgeable in this field of expertise ++ he spoke to me in layman's terms so that I could understand my condition. What I noticed above all was his confidence that he had in himself and that he could help me. Very caring and treated as an important individual, not just as a number.

    Dr. Poree was very attentive and understanding as I described why I was referred to his office. I appreciated that he allowed me to explain the events that has led me to my my present condition. Many doctors/ specialists dismiss or minimize my pain because of my age.

    Care provider did not have the proper previous medical reports, MRI's, x-rays, etc. To be able to have any where near a full discussion. Reports will be accumulated and sent to the Doctor.

    The overall presentation of the doctor was that he lacks compassion, empathy, and concern, and that he is gruff and cranky. I am concerned that in an emergent situation he may not be a provider I can turn to for assistance.
