About me
Dr. Mickie Cheng is an endocrinologist who cares for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. She has a special interest in endocrine autoimmune diseases.
Cheng is involved in basic research on a wide range of endocrine autoimmune disorders. Her work focuses on mechanisms of immune tolerance loss, emphasizing a translational approach that includes human studies. With a background in reproductive biology, she also has a particular interest in studying ovarian autoimmune disease.
Cheng completed her undergraduate degree at Princeton University. She received her medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she also completed her residency in internal medicine. She then came to UCSF for a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
