John Niesen

John Niesen is a nurse coordinator who cares for adults having heart surgery. He works closely with patients and their families to ensure successful preparation and recovery. After surgery, he monitors and evaluates each patient's progress, serving as a liaison to support communication with the entire medical team. He educates patients on their nutritional needs after heart surgery and provides information about their medications. He also teaches them to care for their surgical incisions after they go home and treats wound complications.

After earning a nursing degree from Western Oklahoma State College, Niesen earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from AdventHealth University and a master's degree in nursing from San Francisco State University.

In his personal life, Niesen keeps his heart healthy by eating a plant-based diet and running trail ultramarathons. He also enjoys reading research studies related cardiothoracic surgery, plant-based diets and arrhythmias.
