Royen Kent is a speech-language pathologist who cares for patients with voice, swallowing and upper airway disorders as well as patients with goals related to their voice. His areas of focus include gender-affirming voice training, singing voice rehabilitation, muscle tension dysphonia (vocal changes due to muscle tension around the voice box), voice and swallowing difficulties resulting from Parkinson's disease, chronic cough, and inducible laryngeal obstruction (when a stimulus causes the vocal cords to narrow).

Kent earned his master's degree in speech, language and learning at Northwestern University. Before pursuing a career in speech pathology, he was a professional stage actor, singer and musician in Chicago for 15 years. His focus is now on using his performance skills to help others.

Outside of work, Kent loves to hike, bike, bake and paint.
