Dr. John Gordan is a gastrointestinal cancer specialist who cares for patients with hepatobiliary cancers, such as cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), hepatocellular carcinoma (the most common liver cancer) and gallbladder cancer.
Gordan is actively involved in designing and carrying out clinical trials of potential treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. His laboratory research focuses on identifying new therapies for patients with these cancers as well as identifying predictive biomarkers to better apply existing therapies.
Gordan completed his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in medical oncology at UCSF. He joined the UCSF faculty in 2015.
Gordan is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, which supports his research, as does the American Cancer Society.
