Breast Care Center
At the UCSF Breast Care Center, we care for patients with breast cancer and other breast health issues or concerns. We focus on screening for early breast cancer detection and on delivering more effective and less toxic therapies. We also conduct research that explores breast cancer's causes, biology and behavior, with the goal of developing even better prevention and treatment strategies.
Our team of breast surgeons, breast plastic and reconstructive surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, psychologists and nutritionists work together to thoroughly address all our patients' concerns. Patients also have access to many support services, from meditation groups to dance classes. To make it easier for patients to access breast care wherever they live, we have locations throughout the Bay Area. See our Breast Care Center locations below and visit our Breast Cancer page for additional services and locations.
After completing cancer treatment, patients are referred to the UCSF Breast Cancer Follow-up Program, where they receive regular breast checkups as well as screening tests and lab evaluations as needed. We also work to address quality-of-life issues that may arise after treatment, such as dealing with the symptoms of chemotherapy-induced menopause, taking hormonal drugs or halting hormone replacement therapy, sexual issues, mood or sleep disturbances, nutrition questions and general well-being.
