UCSF General Internal Medicine at Post Street provides primary care services. Our health care professionals are experts in preventive medicine, health monitoring, testing and special treatment programs, such as weight management and diabetes follow-up care. They coordinate your care and treat specific conditions, providing referrals to specialists when needed. Our patient-centered care teams include residents and fellows, nurse practitioners, medical assistants and other clinical care providers. Depending on your needs, you might be seen by a doctor, nurse practitioner, nurse, psychologist or dietitian.

As an academic medical center, we participate in a residency program. Residents are doctors who are pursuing training in internal medicine. Residents and attending physicians work in teams to provide care. You may be seen by a resident or an attending physician during your appointment.

Another General Internal Medicine Clinic, which includes behavioral health services, is at 1701 Divisadero Street, near Sutter Street. Please verify the location of your appointment in advance. If you have urgent medical problems that are not life threatening but need same-day attention, please visit our acute care clinic at Parnassus.
